CAEP supported the National Conference on Human Resources Management and Development in the Higher Education System of Uzbekistan in Tashkent on 22-23 January, 2014

The conference aimed at disseminating the results of the regional Tempus seminar on “Human Resources Management in Public Higher Education”, held in Tashkent in October, 2012.

The conference was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialised Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan (MHSSE), the Head Scientific and Methodical Center (HSMC) under MHSSE, the NTO and the Tashkent State Pedagogical University.

The first day focused on a Preparatory Workshop and video conference with the participation of two European experts provided by CAEP. The National Seminar, which was conducted on the second day, offered the discussion of conclusions and recommendations of the HRM seminar in 2012 in order to determine their relevance and consistency with the national context, to discuss the issues of human resources management in higher education system of Uzbekistan, and to introduce the latest initiatives in the sphere.

In total more than 80 representatives from the MHSSE, the NTO, HEIs (rectors and vice-rectors), educations specialists etc. participated in the preparatory workshop and the National Seminar, including the First Deputy Minister of the MHSSE and the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan. On behalf of CAEP the Team Leader participated on both days.

CAEP supported the activity by providing financial assistance and by identifying two international experts from Latvia and Germany, who presented best practice in HRM in higher education institutions in both EU countries. As a result of the National Seminar, a resolution was adopted, containing recommendations to further reform in the field of HRM in HE as well as recommendations to EACEA for future cooperation and assistance.
